School Desegregation & Civil Rights: Home

This LibGuide attempts to focus primarily on the desegregation of schools in the South. However, other locations such as Topeka, Kansas are also included.

Conducting Your Research

Encyclopedia articles can provide background information and they can also help you identify terms (people, places, events, etc.) that are associated with a subject.  CREDO Reference is an electronic reference database that can prove useful.  However, don't overlook print sources in the Reference area of the library.

Databases should be searched for magazine & journal articles.  Some databases may also contain primary source materials contained in books, newspapers, pamphlets, reports, government documents, etc.  Use the database THESAURUS or SUBJECT GUIDE to identify terms on your subject that are best used in researching your topic.

The Lewis Library Catalog should be used for finding information on a topic in book, e-book, or DVD formats.  A list of selected SUBJECT HEADINGS is provided on this page for your reference and use.  You can limit your search to a location such as "DVD" or "E-book" if you want to restrict a search to a particular location or media type.
